The Little Prince

"Le Petit Prince," or "The Little Prince" is a story cherished by people all over the world. It is a novella written and illustrated by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and published in 1943. Now it is translated in multiple languages and is one of the best selling books across the globe. This story has left its mark on the hearts of countless people worldwide, including those in Japan! Known as 星の王さま(hoshinooujisama) in Japanese, it has become a hot topic amongst Japanese people and its number of fans is increasing to this day.

The story is about a pilot whose plane unfortunately crashed into a desert, leaving him stranded. While repairing his plane, the pilot encounters a young prince who fell to earth from a tiny asteroid known as B-612. The two come to learn about each other along the way and display deep insight on life throughout the story, grasping the attention and hearts of the story's readers. 

Just last year in 2015, The Little Prince was adapted into an English-French animated film. The film uses narration different from the original story, introducing the plot through new characters.  The Little Prince is portrayed colorfully in a way that stirs both nostalgic and undiscovered feelings through stop-motion and artistic detail. It was shown in Japan last year under the title, リトル・プリンス (litorupurinnsu), and the popularity for The Little Prince skyrocketed.
